First published in 2015, The Social Eyes is the English-language version of Reflet de Société. Founded in 1992, Reflet de Société is an informative, cutting-edge magazine dedicated to prevention and raising awareness; especially on social issues. Published 6 times a year, the magazine gives the straight goods on drug and alcohol addiction, compulsive gambling, street gangs, etc. Reflet de Société tackles real-life street issues head on. Our goal is to give people the tools, the knowledge, to live together peacefully together in their communities. The true-life stories of citizens and interveners alike are delivered to the reader via a dedicated team of trained journalists whose beat is the street. This magazine practices a new, socially aware type of journalism – humane; sensitive; eye-to-eye with the everyday concerns of real people. Reflet de Société has become a reference work for schools and community organizations alike. The education ministries in both Quebec and Ontario use articles from Reflet de Société to educate and inform high school students. Reflet de Société was named magazine of the year by the Quebec Association of Magazine Publishers (Association québécoise des éditeurs de magazine). Reflet de Société’s mission is to inform, prevent, raise awareness; proceeds from sales and subscriptions also finance the efforts of its parent organization, Journal de la Rue, in aiding marginalized youth.
